I think it probably had more cream than butter. So probably uses olive oil as a base. Herbs? I don't know. What herbs do you think would be good with hazelnuts and cream? They really don't use a lot of herbs in their cooking in Emilia Romagna that I can remember, which was always surprising to us. Don't even use garlic.

I hope you do try with the gf flour mix. And let me know!

Re: Homemade Gnocchi or Gnocchi di Patate

Marsha, I was actually going to try making gnocchi with Bob's gluten free flour mix (just to see how it turns out). I have too many celiac friends who love gnocchi but can't eat it. Will let you know how it goes... Hmm... a nut sauce, tell me more! Hazelnuts? Butter? Herbs? I may have to try.... :)

Re: Homemade Gnocchi or Gnocchi di Patate

Gnocchi is one my favorite foods of all time. Except now I have to figure out how to make it gluten free. It will be worth the effort! But maybe the only effort will be substituting a different flour in your recipe. Definitely a place to start! I love the brown butter and sage sauce but one of the most memorable ones I had was in Bologna, Italy -- it was with a nut sauce. I still dream of it!

Re: Georgia + Brussels Sprouts = Total Love

One of the techniques I've learned with the under-appreciated vegetable involves trimming the woody part, then scoring the base with a cross. Next, briefly cook in boiling water (2 or 3 minutes). Finish in a pan of browned butter with freshly grated nutmeg. The goodness of the vegetable remains without masking.

Re: Zucchini Cakes

Awesome! That was very sweet of you. I just love Fall too! September through December is actually my favorite time of year. I love the food, family and holidays. Not to mention the beautiful changing leaves, the crackling of a fire in the fire place and the overwhelming need to curl up in a blanket and read a good book. I am so excited that Fall is finally here!
Seattle it is beautiful at this time of year but I bet New England is beautiful this time of year too.
By the way, how was your trip to Seattle?

Re: 15 Fab Blogs for Fall

Don't mention it, Ele.
